OCP Final Statement on MGOCSM Global Conference Incident with Inquiry Report

Dear All

There has been a lot of controversy and criticism with regard to the news report which was published in OCP news portal on the MGOCSM Global Conference incident. OCP had brought one news item and two statements among which the last one was a statement of apology. But the OCP Secretariat was not satisfied with the apology and its response and hence constituted an inquiry commission.

Inquiry Commission

Due to the special nature of the incident, a special inquiry commission was asked to probe further into the incident. The inquiry commission collected details and evidence on the incident.

Findings of the Inquiry Commission

The report published in OCP news portal was true to its core even though it was aggressive in nature and there have been other unfortunate events which occurred at the MGOCSM Global Conference that was not reported in the news item.

The commission has collected recorded voice evidence which is considered to be a vital turning point and this has confirmed the truth in reporting of the incident.

The Commission refrains from publishing the evidence considering the privacy of the person’s involved in the conversation and reputation of the MGOCSM as a spiritual organization of the Orthodox Church.

Concerns

The commission has shown high concerns on the blind denial of the organizers of the conference regarding the incident and has taken seriously the call of some laymen to ban OCP, without having a proper idea about the history, structure, and contributions of OCP Society to Indian Orthodoxy.

The Commission has called for people to learn more about OCP society in depth before making blind conclusions.

The commission has advised OCP Secretariat to contact Ethiopian Orthodox Patriarchate to collect more evidence on the experiences of Ethiopian Orthodox delegates at the MGOCSM Global Conference. This will be only taken up if there is an urgent need for the same.

Submission of evidence to Church Hierarchy

The report of the OCP Special Inquiry commission along with the voice evidence has been communicated and submitted to the concerned dignitaries of the Indian Malankara Orthodox Church hierarchy.

Conclusion

OCP Secretariat leaves the case of MGOCSM Global Conference to the complete mercy of IMOC Church headquarters. We do hope and pray that the Church would consider seriously the issues in question so as to maintain good relationships with the sister Orthodox Church as well as to organize future programmes of her spiritual organizations with wider outlook and preparation.
