Launch of the book Cathedral for the Nation’s Salvation – History of an Ideal
25/10/2011
The book Cathedral for the Nation’s Salvation – History of an Ideal, written by engineer Nicolae Noica, former minister for Public Works and Territorial Planning was launched today, 25 October 2011, in “Europa Christiana” of the Patriarchal Palace – as Trinitas Radio station informs.
The event took place in the presence of His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church and of the hierarchs, members of the Holy Synod, of the representatives of the public authorities, as well as of many guests.
His Beatitude praised the enthusiasm the author proved when writing the book which emphasises once more, through the documents presented in historical order, the need to build the Cathedral for the Nation’s Salvation: “It is, first of all a practical necessity. The number of the members of the Holy Synod is no longer 12 but 55 so that they cannot get all in the altar of this Cathedral to celebrate together because this one is too small. This was a temporary Metropolitan Cathedral. Now it is time to use our freedom to build a church in accordance with the liturgical needs, as well as with the dignity of a Christian devoted people”.
The book is richly illustrated, published by Basilica publishing house of the Romanian Patriarchate. The book was printed with the blessing of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel, who signs the Foreword.
