Before the Liturgy, Metropolitan Volodymyr met at the gate of the Monastery the Miraculous icon of Our Lady of Kasperov, which was transported from Odessa at his request. Just in front of this icon the future Archpastor prayed before enlisting the Odessa Theological Seminary, and before making decisions about taking monastic vows.
Note that on June 20, 1992, on the day of Pentecost, Metropolitan Volodymyr came to Kyiv, where he was met by thousands of Orthodox clergymen and laymen. His first sermon the Primate began with the words: “I came not on a business trip and not from abroad, I came to serve the homeland and independent Ukraine.”
But today, during the worship His Beatitude addressed to the clergy and faithful with the following words:
“Everything in our life ends quickly, but not the Lord does not end, who by the testimony of the Apostle Paul “is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow “. Today I would like to remember all those who at various times worked here, who suffered, who was persecuted, who expected mercy and goodness of God. Let the kingdom of heaven come to visit those who had worked here before, may the Lord forgive all those who are still alive, but sooner or later will come close to their death. I want to thank you for remaining in the Orthodox faith, you supported yourselves with prayer and fasting. I wish those who will still be here to work in order that God strengthened them in the faith, health, longevity, and that there was always peace, tranquility and well-being of all. Let the Lavra will always be a force that is growing stronger, and will protect us all, educating our weakness. I warmly thank you that during 20 years we have prayed with you and we will pray together, if there is God’s will. I thank the Holy Monastery and its monks, bishops, clergy and faithful people who will always strengthen us and will strengthen. I invoke upon all of you the blessings of the Lord. Stay always in faith, stand firm and do not hesitate ever, because faith is sacred, faith is our strength, faith is our force. May the blessing of God be upon you, with His grace and love of people, always, now and forever. Amen. Christ is risen! “.
