2014 – Solemn Eucharistic Year (of the Holy Confession and Holy Communion) and Commemorative Year of the Brancovean Martyr Saints

Holy Synod of the Romanian Orthodox Church proclaimed the year 2014 as Solemn Eucharistic Year (of the Holy Confession and Holy Communion) and Commemorative Year of the Brancovean Martyr Saints and decided the following:

They approved the initiatives of His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel concerning the proclamation of the year 2014 as “Solemn Eucharistic Year (of the Holy Confession and Holy Communion)” and “Commemorative Year of the Brancovean Martyr Saints” in the Romanian Patriarchate.

They approved the church national frame-programme in order to implement the project entitled “2014 – Solemn Eucharistic year (of the Holy Confession and of the Holy Communion)” and “Commemorative year of the Brancovean Martyr Saints” in the Romanian Patriarchate from liturgical, cultural and media point of view.

They approved that all the central and eparchial church institutions, as well as every institution of theological education should take the necessary measures in order to illustrate the church national frame-programme entitled “2014 – Solemn Eucharistic Year (of the Holy Confession and of the Holy Communion)” and “Commemorative Year of the Brancovean Martyr Saints” through local actions and manifestations (media, conferences, meetings, symposiums, and pastoral, theological, catechetical, spiritual seminars), through the contribution of the hierarchs, of the theology professors, of the priests and monks, as well as of other specialists.

They approved that the Semestral pastoral-missionary conference to be held in the spring of 2014 should treat the theme “2014 – Solemn Eucharistic year (of the Holy Confession and of the Holy Communion)” and “Commemorative year of the Brancovean Martyr Saints” in the Romanian Patriarchate and the Semestral pastoral-missionary conference in the autumn of 2014 to treat the theme “Commemorative year of the Brancovean Martyr Saints” with possible analysis in the monthly administrative conferences of the priests scheduled by every eparchy, as well as within the pastoral circles.
