Canada: The Christian Catholic Church commemorated the feast of St Julius Alvares (the late lamented Metropolitan-Archbishop of Ceylon, Goa, and India) during the Mass that was held on 20th September 2020.
Msgr. Willard Dionne, the Coadjutor Bishop of the Christian Catholic Church stated that “We commemorate the memory of St Julius Alvares of the Indian Orthodox Malankara Church (feast day – Sept 23) who was the chief consecrator of Archbishop Vilatte.” St Julius Alvares was also mentioned in the Canon of the Mass with St Gregory of Parumala. The commemorative Mass was held in French.
The Christian Catholic Church is the continuation of the original Church movement initiated by Archbishop Rene Vilatte. The Church is located in Ottawa and it is a member of the International Council of Community Churches (ICC).
Since 2017, the Christian Catholic Church and the autonomous Center for Orthodox Studies (COS) of the Orthodoxy Cognate PAGE Society collaborate in the field of Western Rite Orthodox Research.
