The Holy Synod Thanked Primates and Members of Local Orthodox Churches for Supporting the UOC

Kyiv – Ukraine: During the final meeting of the Holy Synod in 2023, the Chancellor of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Anthony of Boryspil and Brovary, read a report, in which he informed the members of the Synod about the UOC’s contacts with Local Churches, the Information and Education Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church reports.

According to the Chancellor’s report, in 2023, Primates and hierarchs of Local Churches have more than once sent relevant letters, in which they expressed their support to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, personally His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy of Kyiv and All Ukraine, and some hierarchs of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in relation to the pressure upon the episcopate, clergy, monastics, and believers of the UOC on the part of the state authorities, the opening of criminal cases against them, and the possible adoption of anti-constitutional laws against our Church.

Throughout the year, the Kyiv Metropolis has received letters of support from Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East and the Holy Synod of the Antiochian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Theophilos III of Jerusalem and All Palestine, Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia and the Holy Synod of the Serbian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Sawa of Warsaw and All Poland and the Council of Bishops of the Polish Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Rastislav of the Czech Lands and Slovakia and the Holy Synod of the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, and His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon of All America and Canada, as well as from hierarchs of the Jerusalem Church, Bulgarian Church, Serbian Church, Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia, and many others.

The Holy Synod expressed its gratitude to the Primates and hierarchs of Local Orthodox Churches for their constant prayers and support of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, her Primate, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufriy of Kyiv and All Ukraine, episcopate, clergy, monastics, and believers, who attest their faithfulness to canonical Orthodoxy.
