Bishop Gregorios (Khoury) Enthroned as Metropolitan of Homs and Dependencies

Homs-Syria: Bishop Gregorios (Khoury) was enthroned as the Metropolitan of Homs and Dependencies on December 8, 2023, at the Cathedral of the Forty Holy Martyrs of Sebastian in Homs. He succeeded Metropolitan George (Abou Zakhem).

The enthronement service was led by His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Antioch and was attended by several metropolitans of the Holy Synod of Antioch, clergy, and faithful of the archdiocese, as well as local religious and civil dignitaries.

Archbishop Masis Zoboyan of the Armenian Prelacy of Peria (Syria) represented the Armenian Apostolic Orthodox Church in the enthronement service.

His Grace Bishop Gregorios (Khoury) was elected as the new metropolitan of Homs and Dependencies by the Holy Synod on October 20, 2023. Bishop Gregorios had previously served as the auxiliary bishop to His Beatitude the Patriarch for the United Arab Emirates.
