Armenians have many friends globally who have helped us over the years. Armenians are famous for their Christian faith, with an ancient history rich in culture and spirituality. We share many similarities with other nations because of this. There are many individual achievements in art, science, politics and business that see Armenia interconnected globally.

International support from Armenia’s friends has allowed the country to prosper even during times of political turmoil. Most recently, the Barnabas Fund, along with her patrons such as Baroness Cox and Lord Carey, former Archbishop of Canterbury, launched a campaign to recognise the Armenian Genocide. The “Worldwide call to lift the veil on the Armenian Genocide.” aims to prevent future bloodshed in Nagorno-Karabakh by securing international recognition of the Armenian Genocide. As the saying goes, “those who do not know history are doomed to repeat it” and it is hoped that unified recognition of the genocide will go a long way to supporting peace in the future.

Baroness Cox, Patron of the Barnabas Fund and unequivocal advocate of the Armenian cause, said “Adolf Hitler’s infamous words before his attack on Poland were: ‘Who after all today speaks of the annihilation of the Armenians?’ Regrettably, HM Government still does not recognise the Armenian Genocide. Azerbaijan, supported by Turkey, has recently attacked the historic Armenian land of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) with large-scale military offensives, including illegal use of cluster bombs on civilians and the murder, including beheading, mutilation and torture of Armenian prisoners, including civilians.”

A few months ago, the Armenian people again suffered at the hands of Turkish-Azerbaijani aggression. Thousands of Armenians were killed in just a few weeks and over 90,000 fled their homes. The ruthless military offensive was accompanied by the most serious war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Today, we ask our friends to act and join this petition for the worldwide recognition of the Genocide. We believe that together we will be able to create a far stronger voice for the past, present and future of our country.
