His Holiness Patriarch Kirill conferred highest distinction of the Russian Orthodox Church on President of Ukraine Victor Yanukovych

President Viktor Yanukovych has met in Crimea with Kirill I, Patriarch of Moscow and all Rus.

At the beginning of the meeting Patriarch Kirill I conferred to President Yanukovych the highest award of the Russian Orthodox Church – the Order of Prince Vladimir I degree. Viktor Yanukovych received the order “for the attention to labors to strengthen Orthodoxy in Ukraine and on the occasion of the 60th birthday”.

Presenting the Order to President Yanukovych, Patriarch Kirill I said: “I rejoice that on the occasion of your birthday I had a chance to present you this award in the first year of your presidency as a sign of deep respect of the ROC to your labors and your personality”.
