US General Consul in Erbil Visits Patriarch Ignatius Aphrem II

His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II received His Excellency the US General Consul in Erbil Mr. Matthias Mitman.

Their Eminences Mor Nicodemus Daoud Sharaf, Archbishop of Mosul, Kurdistan and Environs, Mor Justinus Boulos Safar, Patriarchal Vicar in Zahleh and Beqaa, Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury, Patriarchal Vicar in the Patriarchal Archdiocese of Damascus, and Very Rev. Raban Joseph Bali, Patriarchal Secretary and Media Office Director, were also present at the meeting.

His Excellency discussed with His Holiness the current situation in Iraq and the intention of the USA to fight terrorism in Iraq.

His Holiness also explained the situation of Christians in the Region of Kurdistan and asked for any possible help in the case of the abducted Archbishops of Aleppo, Mor Gregorius Youhanna Ibrahim and Boulos Yaziji.
