UOC Primate Laid Capsule into Foundation of Resurrection Cathedral of Ukrainian Orthodox Church

On April 4, in the construction site of the Resurrection Cathedral (Zalizhychne shosse 3) His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr performed Paschal Vespers in concelebration of archbishops Pavel of Vyshgorod, Anthony of Boryspil, Bishops Hilary of Makariv,  Alexander of Pereyaslav-Khmelnytskyy, Bishop Panteleimon of Vasylkiv and all the clergy of Kyiv.  It should be noted that this day in the capital city the evening service is performed only in the place of construction of the Christ’s Resurrection Cathedral.  

Before the Divine service, as a blessing of the construction beginning of the main Cathedral of the UOC, laying of the capsule into the foundation of the future Cathedral was carried out.  Attending the solemn ceremony also were Prime-Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov, Vice-Prime-Minister Volodymyr Seminozhenko, deputy city mayor of Kyiv Anatoliy Holubchenko. 

Thus, following the prayer service the Primate laid memorial capsule into the Cathedral’s foundation, and the concelebrating hierarchs together with high officials put the stone reliquary with the saints’ relics. In particular, there were the pieces of relics of the Holy Apostle Andrew the First-Called, Hieromartyr Volodymyr (Bohoyavlenskyy), of the Holy Great Martyr Panteleimon, of the Venerable Fathers of the Kyiv Caves, and the pieces of incorruptible relics of the other saints from the home church of the UOC Primate.   

Following the worship service the Archpastor greeted the numerous assembly on the present feast of Resurrection of Christ and addressed with a word of admonition:   

“We are to be grateful to the Holy Virgin that She came to us in order to manifest more solemnity of the Resurrection of Her Beloved Son, Our Lord and Savior. And all the time she is praying for us, trying to prevent us from sins, and if we sinned – to repent truly. On this joy I am greeting you, and wish that through the prayers of the Most Pure Virgin and all saints, Christ the Resurrected  from Dead had mercy on us, forgave all our sins and gave a good hope that we reach perfection of those virtues called faith, love and hope, because that is what the Lord commanded us”, he said in particular.  
 
Before the Vespers began, the shrines that had arrived lately to Ukraine – the Holy Fire and the Bethlehem Icon of Theotokos – were delivered in the sacred procession that started at the Holy Dormition Cathedral of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra. To the point, this wonderworking image will stay in the Church of All Saints till April 11.

At the end, Vladyka Metropolitan blessed a new warehouse store of the Kyiv Metropolis in Soborna Gallery, in the territory of the construction site of the Cathedral.    

Also before the divine service His Beatitude consecrated the church icon of the Church of All Saints.
