UOC Primate Conferred First Orders of St. Dimitry of Rostov
On November 10 the Orthodox Church marks the 300th anniversary of repose of the Holy Hierarch Dimitry of Rostov (1651-1709).
Today His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr at his residence in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra conferred the first orders of the Holy Hierarch Dimitry (Tuptalo), Metropolitan of Rostov, established this year.
Addressing those attending, the Archpastor mentioned the great deserts of Metropolitan Dimitry of Rostov, for which he was fairly called the “Ukrainian Chrysiostom”, thanked the guests for their labors and handed them the church distinctions.
The first award was bestowed on Vira Fliorova – the representative of the Fliorovs’ family, who had to keep the honorable hand in the ordinary Chernihiv apartment throughout 1924-1997.
The two next orders were conferred on the creative team of the TV-Channel “Glas”, in particular, on the film director Olga Karetnik and the scriptwriter archpriest Mykhail Ganichev, for creation of the documentary “Ukrainian Chrysostom”, exploring the fundamental work of the Holy Hierarch Dimitry “the Lives of the Saints”. At the end the awarded gifted the Metropolitan with a disk with the movie and told of their work on it.
