Ukrainian Translation of Patriarch Kirill’s Book “Pastor’s Word” Published

The book “Pastor’s Word” was translated by the Synodal Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church for Relations with Armed Forces and Other Military Agencies of Ukraine under general editorship of Archbishop Augustine of Lviv and Halych.

Presentation of the edition will be made at the meeting of Patriarch Kirill with the teachers and students of the Kyiv Theological Academy and also the clergy and intellectuals of Kyiv at the refectory church (the Church of Sts. Anthony and Theodosius) of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra on July 29 at 10:00.

Archbishop Augustine noted: “The Book has a great missionary significance for us. It is very important for us to have a book of such a prominent preacher in Ukrainian. We will need it for the work with military servants and the prisoners.”

The edition is composed of a series of talks on biblical themes that the future Patriarch held at the Central (now Public) Russian TV-channel. These religious educational talks, intended for wide community of both churchly people, and those far from the faith. It is clear from the text that His Holiness Patriarch Kirill not only knows the biblical history well, but bears in his heart the content of those distant events and prophecies, and makes deep moral conclusions having nowadays relevance.

The foreword to the Ukrainian edition goes: “the believers of our country center their hopes on the new patriarch, that he supports the stance of His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr and the entire UOC in many serious issues concerning overcoming of the schism in Ukrainian Orthodoxy”.
