Thirty Georgian opposition members detained at Kintsvisi Monastery
Tbilisi, May 27, Interfax – Servicemen of the Georgian Interior Ministry’s special operations units have detained approximately 30 people on the premises of Kintsvisi Monastery, where they have been hiding following the suppression of an opposition protest in Tbilisi on Thursday, Georgian media reported on Friday.
Interior Ministry spokesman Shota Utiashvili promised to make a statement about the detention later.
Firearms were confiscated from these people, Utiashvili told the Maestro TV.
The monastery’s father superior has confirmed the detention of some 30 people, adding that they did not offer any resistance.
