The Roman Catholic Church in USA Raise Awareness Against Persecution of Christians in Africa

New York – USA: A Roman Catholic Mass was offered by Cardinal Timothy Michael Dolan, the Archbishop of New York, at the St. Patrick’s Cathedral on the 9th of September to raise awareness against the persecution of Christians in Africa. Archbishop Gabriele Giordano Caccia, Apostolic Nuncio, the Permanent Observer of the Vatican to the United Nations served as co-celebrant. A group of Kenyan nuns lead a gospel procession whereas the African choirs played the music. Several clergies and faithful attend the Mass.

“For our African brothers and sisters, this holy sacrifice of the Mass is so essential that they risk a bullet, a machete, a bomb rather than miss it,” stated Cardinal Dolan during the service.

Christians and persecuted by radical Islamic jihadists groups across Africa, especially in Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Mozambique, Uganda, Congo, Somalia, Ethiopia and other countries. Islamic State and its affiliates have become a dominant force of Christian persecution in Africa. Moreover, they are recruiting youngsters and indoctrinate them with blind and radical Islamic ideology, which remains a matter of grave concern.
