THE PRESIDENT OF NAGORO KARABAGH IN ANTELIAS

On Saturday 21 August 2010, H.E. Pago Sahakian visited His Holiness Aram I in Antelias, at the headquarters of the Armenian Catholicosate of Cilicia. The President of Nagorno Karabagh was accompanied with a delegation composed of ministers.
His Holiness Aram I greeted the president accompanied with the bishops, priests, representatives of the National Executive Council of the Church, government ministers, parliamentarians and representatives of civil society organizations and the Armenian political parties. His Holiness then led them in procession to the Martyrs Chapel for Prayers in memory of the martyrs of the Genocide in 1915.
At the end of the service, His Holiness Aram I welcomed the President, expressing the unconditional support of the Catholicosate of Cilicia and the Diaspora for the independence and self-determination in Karabagh, which has been an integral part of historical Armenia, and where Armenians have established an organized community.
In his response, President Pago Sahakian thanked His Holiness Aram I for his warm reception and support for their cause which is a cause of justice. He also thanked the Armenian Community in Lebanon and in the Diaspora for their contribution for the rebuilding of Nagorno Karabagh.
The official visit ended with a luncheon offered by His Holiness Aram I in honor of the President and his delegation.
