The Patriarch Prays to Holy Cross for Unification of Georgia

His Holiness and Beatitude Catholicos Patriarch of All Georgia Ilia II prayed to Holy Cross for unification of Georgia during His preaching at Tbilisi Holy Trinity Cathedral.

“Protect and patron us… Protect and patron all Georgia… Unite the whole Georgia… Today, this is the greatest holyday. The Cross keeps great mystery. A man must follow vertical and horizontal paths. The vertical path means seeking the God, and the horizontal one means seeking and loving human beings. A man forming cross of his life achieves happiness. Our lives should begin and end with cross. The cross is the greatest sacral force against devil”, stated the Patriarch.

His Holiness blessed pupils and teachers of Public School No 1 and Lyceum “Mtsignobartukhutsesi” after Sunday liturgy. The Patriarch gave advice to the pupils and their parents. The Patriarch mentioned that the parents should teach faith first of all.

“I cannot remember a night without praying in our family. This rule should be followed in every single family. Every family should keep holy water and pour over the house corners every day”, said the Patriarch.

The Patriarch stated that the parents should teach true faith and the importance of attending service, confession, Eucharist, baptizing to their children. The parent should bless his child every day, and the child should ask its parent for blessing and kiss his hand. “You should bless our children every day, and the God will bless your children too. The parents should teach their children how to love and devote to God. Ability to feel love is grace that the God has given to us and we shall pass it to our children. As much love gives a man as much grace comes back to him”, stated the Patriarch.

The third advice that the Patriarch gave to parents was to teach hope, hope on God, hope on man, and hope on future. “A hopeless man is poor. If we give a birth to hope the God will hear our praying”, said the Patriarch.
