The Patriarchate of Alexandria – September 2016
On Monday 12th September 2016, His Beatitude Theodoros II, Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa, within the framework of his visit to the Holy Monastery of Kyreneia in Cyprus, went to the Presidential Palace and met with His Excellency Mr. Nikos Anastasiades, President of the Republic of Cyprus.
The Cypriot President warmly welcomed the Alexandrian Primate and briefed him on the latest developments regarding the news of Cyprus and general topics of mutual interest, while His Beatitude in turn briefed him on the results of the General Assembly of the Middle East Council of Churches which took place in recent days in the Jordanian capital, as well as his deep concern for the future of Christians in this region.
As is usual at every official meeting which the Alexandrian Primate has with important counterparts, he once again tried to contribute to the promotion of development projects between Egypt and Cyprus, the development of tourism and the general rebound of the economy in mutual investments, due to the present good relations between Greece, Cyprus and Egypt.
In conclusion His Beatitude once again thanked the President of the Republic for the enormous support which he gives the Patriarchate of Alexandria and prayed that God would support him and enlighten him for the benefit of the Cypriot people.
