The Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania was awarded the Prize of Appreciation
Church of Albania – December 2015
The Orthodox Autocephalous Church of Albania was awarded the Prize of Appreciation by the Albanian Student Movement ’90-’91 on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Freedom and Democracy in Albania. The event was organized on 8 December 2015 in Hotel Tirana International.
The ceremony was attended by former students of the Student Movement ’90-’91, politicians and guests. Special appreciation was expressed for the religious communities in Albania as significant contributors to the democratic changes in the country. For this reason, a Certificate of Appreciation was awarded to religious communities by Mr. Ilir Dizdari, the President of the Movement.
The Orthodox Church was represented by His Grace Anthony, Bishop of Kruje, who in his speech expressed his gratitude for such an appreciation and also provided the example of silent but significant resistance of the Orthodox believers, who never stopped praying hoping that one day God would make possible the advent of religious freedom and democracy. It was these people who feared God and therefore did not fear people, as was the case of the Orthodox clergy and believers.
Also relevant greetings were extended by other religious communities.
