The Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God “of the Sign” Visits Shchigrovsk Diocese of the Kursk Metropoliate of the Russian Orthodox Church

On September 26, 2017, the miracle-working Kursk Root Icon of the Mother of God “of the Sign” was brought to Holy Trinity Cathedral in Shchigrovsk Diocese.
His Grace Bishop Paisky of Shchigrovsk and Manturovsk and his clergymen, along with a great multitude of worshipers, greeted the icon upon its arrival. A moleben service and akathist to the Most-Holy Mother of God were performed before the icon.
At eight o’clock in the morning, Mayor IN Zhitnyak of the city of Shchigra and Mr YI Astakhov, Head of the Shchigrovsk region, welcomed His Grace Bishop Nicholas of Manhattan, who is leading the delegation of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia which brought the holy icon to the Kursk region.
Vladyka Nicholas officiated at Divine Liturgy along with His Grace Bishop Paisy of Shchigrovsk, Hegumen Seraphim (Kotelnikov), Prior of Kursk-Root Hermitage of the Nativity of the Mother of God, and other clergymen of Shchigrovsk Diocese. A moleben was performed before the Kursk-Root Icon at the end of Liturgy.
Bishop Paisy then spoke words of greeting to the visiting hierarch and the worshipers in attendance. Vladyka Paisy then gave Vladyka Nicholas a painted icon of the “Reigning” Mother of God.
At 3 pm, Bishop Paisy and his clergymen then performed a moleben before the holy icon at the Shchigra Cathedral and blessed the faithful with it before accompanying it on its return to the city of Kursk.
