The first meeting of the Commission for amendments to the Statute of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church took place
On March 20, with the blessing of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, under the chairmanship of Metropolitan Hilarion of Donetsk and Mariupol the session of the Commission for amendments to the Statute of Governance of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (amended 2007) was held at the Holy Dormition Kyiv Caves Monastery.
The Commission considered organizational matters and created the secretariat of the commission consisting of the Commission Secretary Bishop Alexiy of Odessa, rector of the Pochayiv Seminary Archimandrite Nathanael (Krykota) and Chairman of the Legal Department of the Kyiv Metropolis Valentin Volynets. The commission members also exchanged views on the statute of governance of the UOC and fixed the date of the next Commission meeting on April 26.
Upon conclusion of the work the Commission chaired by Metropolitan Hilarion of Donetsk and Mariupol visited Metropolitan Volodymyr in the hospital and reported on the results.
Background: The Commission for Amendments to the Statute of Governance of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (amended 2007) was established by the decision of the Council of Bishops of the UOC of 8 July 2011. The Commission members approved the decision of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church on January 26, 2012 (journal 5).
KYIV. Chancellor of the UOC reported to His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr on the state of affairs of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church
On March 19 Chancellor of the UOC Archbishop Metrophanes of Bila Tserkva and Bohuslav visited the Primate of the UOC in the hospital and offered him for review the reports of the diocesan bishops for the year 2011. There were also considered the current issues of the Kyiv Metropolis.
