THE FEAST OF STS CONSTANTINE AND HELEN AT THE JERUSALEM PATRIARCHATE

June 2015

On Wednesday, the 21st of May/3rd of June 2015, the Hagiotaphite Brotherhood celebrated the feast of its founders and protectors, the glorious kings and equals-to-the apostles, Sts Constantine and Helen, at the monastic Church dedicated to them, by the rotunda of the Holy and Life-giving Sepulcher.

Vespers was led by Patriarch Theophilos of Jerusalem, the vicars of the church officiating. Hagiotaphites, Primates, Archimandrites, Hieromonks, Hierodeacons and monks concelebrated with them.

Vespers was celebrated in a panegyric manner with a Great Entrance and the Breaking of bread. On its conclusion, His Beatitude and the Hagiotaphites were offered kollyva with wine and rusk in the forecourt of the Church.

On feast-day, Matins was performed by His Beatitude. Co-officiating with Him at the divine Liturgy, were Hagiotaphite vicars and concelebrating Primates, Archimandrites, Hierodeacons and monks. Archimandrite Eusebius and thetypikaris, f. Alexios, sang in the presence of the Greek Consul-General to Jerusalem, Mr Georgios Zacharoudiakis, and his esteemed wife.

After the apolysis, the Patriarch, Primates and Priests walked in procession to the Patriarchate.

During the supplication, from the monastery’s Central Gate to the Patriarchate, breads of blessing were distributed to His Beatitude, the Consul-General, Primates, Priests, monks and the faithful, by Nun Seraphima and Archimandrite Paisios, heads of the Patriarchate’s bakery.

At the Patriarchate, His Beatitute addressed concelebrants in Greek.

At noon, they were all hosted to festive lunch.
