The counsellors for education and the directors of the theological seminaries met the Patriarch of Romania
On 26th April 2013, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church met in Europa Christiana hall of the Patriarchate Palace the directors of theological and high schools seminaries, and the counsellors for education and youth activity, as well as the specialised inspectors of the Romanian Patriarchate.
During the meeting His Beatitude spoke to those present about the importance of the religious education in the life of the Church and society.
“We wish to thank all those who contributed and continue to contribute with much diligence, devotion and sacrifice to the intensification of the missionary work of the Church through theological education and religious education. Certainly, there are many things to be done, but first of all let us see the light through those with missionary conscience within the theological education. It should be pointed out that the Romanian Orthodox Church is one of the Orthodox Churches of the world with the greatest number of theological schools, faculties and seminaries. This fact shows the continuation of the fact that we strengthen the activity and presence of the Church in society through the theological education. The service at the altar is completed with the service at the chair and here we engage lots of young people who answer the call of Christ”, His Beatitude said, according to Trinitas Radio station.
The expert counsellor of the Romanian Patriarchate spoke about the importance of the meeting, also drawing the conclusions of the discussions.
“One of the basic conclusions of this meeting was the fact that we must analyse lucidly and sincerely our theological education and find the solutions needed to try to strengthen both its academic and spiritual aspect. We have also identified a series of issues in dialogue and I admit it was a fruitful one. All the seminaries directors took the floor and presented during the meeting the solutions they thought fit for solving them. We think the follow up of our meeting is necessary in order to reach the renewal and restructure of the theological education”, declared Rev. Constantin Patuleanu, Counsellor of the Theological Educational Department of the Romanian Patriarchate, as Trinitas Radio informs.
These days, the counsellors for education and activity with the youth, the inspectors in the field, as well as the directors of theological seminaries and high schools of the Romanian Patriarchate participate in the regional workshop entitled “Inclusive Education for All”, organised within FORTE project – lasting formation for social partnership. The works are held at “Dumitru Staniloae” Formation Centre.
To end with, all those present received several publications on behalf of the Patriarch of Romania.
