On 20 May 2011, His Holiness Aram I presided over the annual meeting of the Board. The Fund was created by Swiss people to help the orphans of the genocide, and later the Foundation was transferred by the Swiss Churches to the Catholicosate of Cilicia. The aim of ARMENOFAS is to respond to the needs of the Catholicosate, and more particularly to the Home of the Elderly in Kokkinia, of the Armenian Prelacy of Greece.
The Board consists of representatives of the Federation of Protestant Churches in Switzerland and the Catholicosate of Cilicia. Mrs. Teny Pirri-Simonian is the President and Me. François Payot the Vice-president. The Board meets annually in Antelias, in Kokkinia and in Geneva consecutively.
In Anelias, , His Holiness Aram I welcomed the Board Members and said, “ARMENOFAS” is more than a fund, it is the expression of solidarity of the Swiss people with the survivors of the Genocide; it is the bridge between us and the churches in Switzerland, and we are most thankful for this bridge.”
After listening to the annual Activity and Financial report presented by the President of the Board, and discussing future plans, the Board decided to ask the Finance Committee of the Central Committee of the Catholicosate of Cilicia to recommend a new investment policy.
The Board will meet again on 17 May 2012, at the Home of the Elderly in Kokkinia, Greece.
