The Annual Activity Report of the Orthodoxy Cognate PAGE Society – 2018

Dear Beloved 

We are happy to present you with the annual activity report of Orthodoxy Cognate PAGE Society for the year 2018. We thank you all for the kind support and encouragement.  Orthodoxy Cognate PAGE is a Pan-Orthodox Christian Society established under the Travancore-Cochin Literary, Scientific and Charitable Societies Registration Act, 1955. Registration No: A.455/2010.

Meetings and Visits
In the month of April 2018, Secretary George Alexander visited Patriarch Irnje of Serbia. He also paid visits to the Dept. of Information Services of the Serbian Church, Serbian Theological faculty at the University of Belgrade, Serbian Orthodox Academy of Fine Arts & Conservation, Monasteries of Nicholai Vermilovic and Justin Popovich monasteries. In the month of December OCP delegate Fr. Koshy Vaidyan met Hieromonk Stephan Igmnov (Secretary to the Desk of Oriental Orthodox Church of the External Church Relations of the Moscow Moscow Patriarchate). The letter from the Executive Council of the Society was in support to the Russian Orthodox Church with regards to the recent developments in Ukrainian Orthodoxy. Honors and Awards –OCP Foundation
OCP Foundation installed two new Orders ‘The Order of Western Rite Orthodoxy’ and the ‘Order of Metropolitan Alvares Julius’. Serbian Patriarch was honored with the Indian Icon of St. Peter and St. Thomas (written by Fr. Bobby Varghese), a traditional Malankara Lamp and a special Pan-Orthodox icon collage. Dr. Deacon Alexander (Serbian Patriarchal Secretary) was presented with the OCP Pan-Orthodox icon of St. Gregory of Parumala. The Serbian Academy of Arts, Orthodox theological faculty at Belgrade University, Serbian Orthodox author Dragana Nedeljkovc Atanaskovic were presented with icons of St. Gregorious of Parumala. Research Projects and Publications
Metropolitan Alvares Julius Research project was revamped in the month of April 2018. The newly redesigned portal was inaugurated by Serbian Orthodox author Dragana Atanaskovic in the month of April 2018. The fourth book from the house of OCP publication titled Western Rites of Syriac-Malankara Orthodox Churches was released under the auspicious of MARP in the month of August 2018 at Sofia Center, Old Seminary in collaboration with the Ecumenical Relations Dept. of the Malankara Church. The book was launched by Zachariah Nicholovos (Metropolitan of the North East American Diocese and President of the Ecumenical Relations Department of the Malankara Church) by presenting a copy to Chorbishop Kuriakose Moolayil (Syriac Scholar and Faculty at Malankara Syriac Seminary) of the Jacobite Syriac Orthodox Church of India.

A Book in Response to OCP Publication
Moreover, a book titled ‘As Far as the East is from the West‘ in response to the Western Rite book written by Metropolitan Abba Seraphim of Glastonbury was published by Seraphic Press of the British Orthodox Church.

Charity and Social Welfare
A total amount of Indian rupees one hundred twenty thousand (120000, equivalent to 1700 US dollars) was distributed for charity and social welfare activities. Help was provided for education and health needs. An amount of Indian rupees 7000 was gifted to the State Govt. of Kerala as part of the flood relief and rehabilitation efforts. This amount was raised from the first-day MARP book sales.

OCP Society
The registration of the Society was renewed (annual) with the Govt. of India. A complete revamping process of the administration of the Society is under process. New structures were added to the Dept. of Church Research and Studies of the Society, namely the Center for Orthodox Studies or COS (Orthodox Christian Resource Center -OCRC was converted to COS).
