The 7th Century St. Grigor Armenian Church Require Urgent Restoration – Hetq Report

Yerevan-Armenia: The 7th Centrya Armenian Chruch of St. Grigor located in the Aragatzotn Province of Armenia is in a dilapidated condition, reports hetq.am. The dome of the Church is no more in the sight. Events like baptism and weddings are celebrated in the Church regardless of its pitiful condition.

In 2013 a team of Armenian-Italian specialists made a study project and did a few works to improve the condition of the Church. They plan to propose a project for the total renovation of the Church by the end of this year, according to the report.

According to the Department of History and Cultural Monuments, they are monitoring the condition and once funds are available, the necessary steps will be taken to improve the conditions of the Church.

The Church was originally built by Armenian ruler Grigor Mamikonyan and his wife Heghineh.
