The 4th Congress Of The Faculties Of Orthodox Theology Of The Romanian Patriarchy Began At The Patriarchal Palace

On 27 September 2010, the 4th edition of the National Congress of the Faculties of Orthodox Theology of the Romanian Patriarchate was held in “Conventus” room of the Patriarchal Palace of Bucharest, informs Trinitas Radio station. The representatives of the high theological educational institutions will deliver, for two days, lectures on the theological research in the Romanian university field.

Today, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of Romania, opened the Congress, and delivered the lecture entitled “Theological Research, deepening the faith knowledge and Church life”.

“Without research, the study of theology becomes monotonous, repeated, superficial, stereotypic and static. Research not only confirms and develops what is already known in theology, but also establishes new connections and meanings in the old texts as well as new relations among the classic theological disciplines, very often separated one from another in the scholastic theology. Other perspectives are also opened to present in a creative way new spiritual meanings of the relation between the holy text of the Scriptures and Tradition and the social-cultural context of the present time. Research is not only study, but also discernment or critical selection of the information acquired. More exactly, theological research will keep what is useful for salvation”, said the Primate of the Romanian Orthodox Church.
