Syriac Orthodox Priest and Faithful Forcefully Arrested by the Turkish Authorities in Tur Abdin Region

Turkey: It has been reported by ‘Demand for Action‘ that the Turkish authorities arrested Syriac orthodox priest, Father Aho Bilecen of Dayro d’ Mor Yakoub d’ Qarnao (Monastery), and two faithful (Josef Yar and Musa Tastekin) in Turabdin region (southeast Turkey), a stronghold of the ancient Syriac Orthodox Christians.
Father Aho was forcefully taken by the authorities. A raid was held at the monastery as well. Local sources state that the priest and the faithful have no lawyers to help them.
No one is aware of the reason behind the sudden arrests. The incident has panicked the Syriac Orthodox Christians in the region.
