‘Suspicious’ Fire Destroys Coptic Orthodox Church in Surrey (British Columbia)

BC-Canada: A suspicious fire has destroyed the St. George Coptic Orthodox Church located in Surrey, British Columbia, province in Canada. It was reported that the St George Church is the latest one destroyed by fire in recent weeks. Police stated that the St George Coptic Orthodox Church was already a target of criminal activities last Wednesday.

Coptic Bishop Mina of Mississauga has called for a proper investigation of the incident. He stated that the timing of this fire is questionable especially considering what attempt was made by the authorities to protect the building.

The St. George Coptic Church caters to the spiritual needs of a wide number of nationalities including Egypt, Ethiopia, Eritrean and Lebanese Orthodox Christians.
