St. Sava celebrated solemnly in Zagreb

His Eminence Metropolitan of Zagreb-Ljubljana Porfirius presided over the Hierarchal Liturgy in the chapel of the Serbian Orthodox General High School (Gymnaisum).
Concelebrants to the Metropolutan were archpriest-stavrophor Marko Nogi,. prоtоsyncell Veniamin, hieromonk Dionysius from the Kovilj Monastery and deacon Branimir Jokic. The Liturgy was attended by the Zagreb faithful, pupils and teachers of this High School “Katarina Brankovic – Kantakuzina”. The Hierarch blessed the St. Patron’s cake and wheat.
The festivity was organized in the Spiritual Centre under the general theme “The Russian Soul” prepared and realized by the High School pupils. The hall was all too small to receive all those who wanted to witness to the creativity and imagination of the pupils. St. Sava’s Anthem was sung by the School choir, whereupon the Principal archpriest-stavrophor Slobodan Lalic welcomed the attendants, among whom Mr. Slavko Kojic on behalf of the mayor of Zagreb, Mrs Mira Nikolic as Ambassador of Serbia in Zagreb, Mr. Alexander Stjepanov as a representative of the Ambassador of Russian Federation in Zagreb, Mr Milorad Pupovac as Chaiman of the Serbian National Council, Mr Boris Milosevic MP and Mr. Mile Horvat MP and Chairman of the Serbian Charity Privrednik, Mr. Simer Jurcic from the Office for Relations with Religious Communities, University Professors of Zagreb: Dusan Marinkovic, Natalija Vidmarovic, Nikola Sarapa and Hrvoje Klasic, Principals and pedagogues of the Zagreb schools and pupils’ homes, Paents of the pupils.
The cultural-artistic programme included traditional national and religious Russian songs as well as excerpts from Russian classics such as Turgenjev, Ljermontov, Jesenjin…
St. Sava was celebrated in the church of Lord’s Transfiguration in Zagreb, where two priests and a deacon officiated the Liturgy that was followed by a school children programme.
