Spiritual leader invites Georgian Patriarch to Baku

Sheikh-ul-Islam haji Allahshukur Pashazade held a meeting with Georgian Catholicos Patriarch Iliya the Second in Georgia.
According to spokesperson for the Caucasus Muslims Department Rahima Dadasheva, on welcoming sheikh ul-islam, the patriarch stressed the importance of cooperation of the two religious figures, assessing the current visit as one more demonstration of historical ties between our states, nations and religions.
Stressing satisfaction with many years of fruitful cooperation with Patriarch Iliya the Second, Pashazade stressed the coincidence of positions of the religious figures of Azerbaijan and Georgia in the peace settlement of conflicts in the region.
Two religious leaders again voiced their support to the territorial integrity of the two states. Only this way may lead to the fair solution of conflicts in the Caucasus.
Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Department invited All-Georgian Catholicos to Azerbaijan. The invitation was accepted with gratitude. During the visit the sheikh also met with Azerbaijanis residing in Georgia.
