Spiritual fight for man has started again with Patriarch Kirill’s coming – Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin

Moscow, June 5, Interfax – New stage of spiritual fight for man has started under Patriarch Kirill, head of the Synodal Church and Society Department Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin believes.

“We should become a people’s Church, a missionary Church, a Church that teaches and educates. Many of us are already of such kind, but we should all be of such kind. With His Holiness Patriarch Kirill’s coming, for many church people a spiritual fight, a fight for man, for his heart, for his soul, for his enlightenment, for his salvation has started again,” Fr. Vsevolod said at his meeting with students in Moscow.

According to him, “this fight is crucial for the Church. There can be defeats, periods of retreats, moments of weakness in it, but there shouldn’t be reconciliation with evil, there shouldn’t be compromises with the enemy of mankind.”

“I believe today one of the tasks set before every part of church organism is to find occupation in the Church for very different people to their liking. The Church is in no way a place to come, drop a banknote in the church box, order some ritual “services” and leave it right afterwards,” the priest noted.
