Shrine of a Particle of the Relics of Saint Paisie from Neamţ, Consecrated by the Patriarch of Romania

Saint Pious Paisie from Neamţ is celebrated in the Romanian Orthodox Church, tomorow, 15 November 2011. He is also one of the protectors of Şerban Vodă church of Bucharest.

On this occasion, His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church consecrated, this afternoon, a shrine of a particle of the relics of Saint Paisie from Neamţ, in the historical chapel of the Patriarchal Cathedral.

In the sermon delivered His Beatitude spoke about the life of Saint Paisie from Neamţ.

“Saint Paisie came from Ukraine, but he lived most of his life in the Romanian territory. First he lived close to Buzău, then at Mount Athos for a few years and then, at Dragomirna, Secu and Neamţ for the rest of his life, till 1794. He loved the Holy Fathers very much, and translated “Filocalia” into Slavonic, helped by the Romanian fathers who had a good command of the Greek language”.

The Primate of the Romanian Orthodox Church has also mentioned that tonight the shrine of the holy relics would be displayed at the religious services occasioned by the celebration of the saint patron for the faithful to worship it at the Vigil service.

Şerban Vodă church is also dedicated to the Falling Asleep of the Mother of God and to Saint Hierarch Nicholas.
