Session of Liturgical-Theological Commission to the Holy Synod of the UOC Held
On October 5, at the Holy Dormition Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra the extended session of the Liturgical Theological Commission to the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was held.
At the beginning of the session those attending heard the report of the commission’s chairman, archimandrite Philareth (Zverev) on the work in the present year.
In the course of work the draft provision concerning creation of the liturgical texts in honor of the newly-glorified saints and a series of liturgical rites were discussed.
The texts composed as a result of the discussion will be presented for consideration of His Beatitude Metropolitan Volodymyr and the Holy Synod of the UOC.
BACKGROUND. The decision on creation of the Liturgical-Theological Commission was adopted on March 29, 2007 at the session of the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (JOURNAL № 27).
Composition of the commission: chairman – archimandrite Philareth (Zverev), archimandrite Polikarp (Linenko), monk of the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, archimandrite Nicodemus (Baranovskyy) – teacher of the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary, archpriest Oleg Sknar, teacher of the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary, priest Andriy Nikoalyidi, teacher of the Odessa Theological Seminary, priest Oleg Kozhushnyy, teacher of the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary, hieromonk Roman Pidlubnyak (choirmaster of the Kyiv Theological Academy and Seminary).
