Serbian Delegation at St. Vladimir’s Seminary

On Wednesday, March 29, 2017, His Grace Bishop Irinej of Eastern America, together with Protopresbyter-Stavrophor Dr. Vladimir Vukadinovic, full professor of Liturgics and Ecclesiastical Art History at the Orthodox Theological Faculty of the University of Belgrade, visited St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Theological Seminary.

They were accompanied by Protopresbyter-Stavrophor Dr. Zivojin Jakovljevic, Episcopal Deputy of the Diocese of Eastern America, Dean of St. Sava Cathedral in New York City, and assistant professor in Church Slavonic at St. Sava School of Theology in Libertyville and lecturer in Linguistics at Cleveland State University, Protopresbyter Vladislav Radujkovic, parish priest at St. Sava Cathedral, and Deacon Dr. Jovan Anicic, Director of Religious Education of the Diocese of Eastern America, and assistant professor of Dogmatics and Church Chant at St. Sava School of Theology in Libertyville.

Fr Vladimir Vukasinovic, full professor of Liturgics and Ecclesiastical Art History at the Orthodox Theological Faculty of the University of Belgrade, was visiting the Eastern American Diocese in the capacity of guest lecturer for the Fraternal Seminar and Clergy Confessions in Cleveland, Ohio from March 23rd to 25th. Together with His Grace Bishop Irinej, an alumnus of St. Vladimir’s Seminary and member-designate for the Board of Trustees, they were received by Archpriest Dr. Chad Hatfield, President of St Vladimir’s Seminary, to discuss ways and means by which the agreement on academic cooperation between St Vladimir’s and the Theological Faculty in Belgrade could be realized on the level of the exchange of professors and students and well as mutual participation in international conference of the two schools of advanced theological studies.

Following suit, His Grace and Fr Vladimir were met by Deacon Gregory Hatrak, Marketing and Operations Manager of SVS Press, to discuss a cooperative venture in the exchange publication of theological literature, translations and the like between the two academies of higher theological education. After touring the library and archives, the largest repository of Orthodox theological literature in the USA, the chapel, bookstore and campus, the Serbian students at St. Vladimir’s Seminary, Deacon Larry Soper and Stefan Djoric of the Eastern American Diocese, Joseph Wesseler of the Western American Diocese, and Stefan Mastilovic of the Australian and New Zealand Metropolitanate, had the unique opportunity to enter into an informative discussion with Fr Vladimir on contemporary Orthodox theological education.
