Search initiated to fill vacant Chancellor Position

With the blessing of His Beatitude, Metropolitan Jonah, and the Holy Synod of Bishops, applications are now being accepted for the position of Chancellor of the Orthodox Church in America.
“At the joint meeting of the Holy Synod and the Metropolitan Council held in Chicago, IL May 4-6, 2011, the Human Resources Committee of the Metropolitan Council was charged with considering, evaluating, and recommending to the Metropolitan Council suitable candidates to fill the position of Chancellor,” according to Archpriest Eric G. Tosi, OCA Secretary. “This recommendation would in turn be presented to the Holy Synod for appointment, per Article II, Section 7m of the Statute of the Orthodox Church in America.”
The Human Resources Committee, chaired by Priest David Garretson, met on July 14 to finalize plans for the search. Metropolitan Jonah and His Grace, Bishop Melchisedek, Acting Chancellor, attended the meeting. Other Committee members, in addition to Fathers Eric and David, include Archpriest Joseph Gallick, Archpriest David Lowell, Eleana Silk, and Dr. Paul Witek.
The Chancellor will be based at the OCA Chancery, Syosset, NY. Salary and benefits are commensurate with employment in the Metropolitan New York area.

Applications should be accompanied by a cover letter explaining the applicant’s interest in the position; a resume summarizing education, skills, knowledge, and pastoral experience relevant to the position; and at least three professional references.
