Russian Orthodox Church does not have property in Bulgaria: hieromonk

Sofia. The Russian Orthodox Church does not have property in Bulgaria, hieromonk Zotik Gaevski, a secretary for the Russian Patriarch in Bulgaria, said in an interview with FOCUS News Agency, commenting on recent media reports in Bulgaria that the Russian church wanted to be independent on the Bulgarian territory.
Hieromonk Zotik Gaevski vehemently refuted the media claims.
The Russian Federation owns Church of St Nicholas the Miracle-Maker in Sofia. The Russian Orthodox Church gave the property it had in Bulgaria to the Bulgarian Orthodox Church in 1952. Since then, the issue of returning the property to the Russian Orthodox Church has not been and will not be raised, he said.
