Russia-Vatican diplomatic relations to help protect peace and promote human values, the Holy See Representative to Russia believes
Moscow, December 4, Interfax – The Vatican representative to Russia Archbishop Antonio Mennini says the Holy See is “deeply satisfied” with the Russian President’s decision to establish diplomatic relations with the state.
“This decision proves the Holy See and the Russian Federation has good level of relations that have been recently developing in direction of mutual cooperation,” Msgr. Mennini told an Interfax-Religion correspondent.
According to him, “strengthening ties of mutual respect and friendship that have already existed between Russia and the Holy See,” can contribute in settling longstanding tasks and help protect peace, peacefully settle conflicts worldwide, strengthen and promote “such basic human values as recognition and protection of human dignity, family institute, ethic and moral dimensions of each human life and the whole society as education of youth should be based on it.”
The Vatican representation is satisfied with the fact that the Catholic Church in Russia and its believers, “citizens of this great and noble nation,” enjoy the freedom of conscience and confession.
The Holy See representation is confidence that “Russian Catholics will contribute in moral, social and spiritual growth of Russia for the welfare of each person and the whole great country.”
