Russia prays for victims killed in Beslan Terrorist Attack
Moscow, September 3, Interfax – Requiem services for victims of terrorist attack in Beslan School №1 will be conducted in Orthodox churches, mosques and synagogues of Russia this Thursday on the fifth anniversary of the tragedy.
One of the main requiem services will be held in Moscow Church of the Holy Trinity in Khoroshovo. With Patriarch Kirill’s blessing, head of the Synodal Church and Society Department Archpriest Vsevolod Chaplin will conduct the service.
Representatives of the Ossetian Diaspora and public organizations of Moscow will pray at the requiem service.
On Wednesday, the eve of the tragic date, renowned religious figures of the country decisively condemned terrorism and urged, “not to let the second Beslan happen.”
A terrorist group seized school №1 on September 1, 2004. Over 1200 people including schoolchildren, their parents and teachers were taken hostages. They were kept in a gym stuffed with explosives.
The terroristic act killed 330 people including 180 children. Some more people died in following years from received injuries.
