Kyiv-Ukraine: The Ukrainian Orthodox Church – Kyiv Patriarchate (UOC -KP) which was revived by Patriarch Filaret after a split from the Orthodox Church in Ukraine (OCU) continue to expand. It has been reported by various media outlets that several clergies of OCU have sympathised with Patriarch Filaret and his Kyiv Patriarchate. Few priests have defected from OCU to UOC- KP and some of them were ordained as bishops in the revived UOC-KP by Patriarch Filaret.

The OCU was created by Constantinople Patriarchate as a merger of UOC-KP, UAOC in December 2018. However, UOC-KP was revived as a result of the disagreement and conflict between Filaret and the hierarchy of OCU.

Ukrainian Orthodox Church – Moscow Patriarchate (UOC-MP) is the leading canonical Church in Ukraine recognised by Eastern Churches. Nevertheless, some of the Eastern Orthodox Hierarchs of the Church of Greece, Church of Cyprus, and Alexandrian Patriarchate recognises OCU.
