Releasing of the Logo of Catholicate Centenary Celebrations

The Logo of the Catholicate Centenary Celebrations will be released on 21st Dec 09 at St. Mary’s Orthodox Church, Niranam. As we all know the Church was established by our Patron Saint, St. Thomas and 21st is the feast day of the blessed martyrdom of the Saint. The logo releasing is the first public event in the series of vivid programs chalked out in connection with the centenary celebrations. The Catholicate of the East was established on 15th Sep 1912 at the premises of St. Marys Orthodox Church Niranam.

Prior to the releasing of the Logo, there will be con-celebration of 101 celebrants in honor of the feast of the Patron Saint and for the blessing of the celebrations in mind. During the last Holy Episcopal Synod only, approval was granted for the con-celebration. There is no fixed number of celebrants for the con-celebrations. There will be celebrants from almost all Dioceses. Before the commencement of the worship, His Holiness the Catholica Bava Thirumeni, H.B. Militios Thirumeni and the other Metropolitans will be received in colorful procession, where the celebrants of the con-celebration will take part in vestments along with others (Rambans, Cor-Episcopas, Priests, Deacons and Seminary Students) Immediately after the Holy Eucharist, the half an hour program of the Logo release will take place. His Holiness will release the logo and will handover the same to H.G. Thomas Mar Athanasius, Metropolitan of Chengannur Diocese and Chairman of the Celebrations Committee. Justice Benchamin Koshy will deliver the key note address and felicitate the function. H.G. Dr. Youhanon Mar Chrisostomos, Metropolitan of Niranam Diocese will offer the welcome speech and Dr. George Joseph, Secretary of Malankara Association will offer the vote of thanks. A competition was held for the Logo designing. A few participated from overseas also. All the entries were really good and appreciable. The committee found it very difficult to find out the best and the one selected as the best was distinct from others for more than one reason. Certificates with the signature of His Holiness will be awarded to all participants of the competition. The designer of the Logo will be awarded with a special prize in addition to the certificate.
