Protocol of Collaboration between the Romanian Patriarchate and the Romanian Television

1/10/2013

On 26 September 2013, the Romanian Patriarchate and Romanian Television concluded a Protocol of cooperation in order to promote national culture and identity. The document was signed at the Patriarchate Palace by His Beatitude Daniel, Patriarch of the Romanian Orthodox Church and by Mr Claudiu Saftoiu, President-General Director of the RTV.

The two institutions are going to constantly promote the genuine spiritual and cultural Romanian values, especially in the rural areas and Romanian Diaspora, which has grown a lot during the last few years.

“Humanitarian programmes designed to promote and strengthen social cohesion and solidarity will be developed, especially in the rural areas and Romanian Diaspora. The two institutions will collaborate through exchange of documentaries on the churches and monasteries historical monuments all over the country, as well as on other representative places of worship. They will also exchange images of the social, cultural, and educational events in which the Romanian communities are involved. Images of hierarchs, great father confessors and Romanian Orthodox priests will be also exchanged”, Rev Counsellor Constantin Stoica, speaker of the Romanian Patriarchate explained.

According to the protocol, the Romanian Patriarchate will collaborate for achieving and promoting some projects and programmes with religious-spiritual, social and cultural-educational character.

“The Romanian Television will take over various concerts of religious and classic music, or carols organised by the Romanian Patriarchate. The Romanian Television will take over through Trinitas TV of the Romanian Patriarchate the celebration of the Divine Liturgy and other religious services from the Patriarchal Cathedral, as well as from some other churches and monasteries from the country. Trinitas Television will also take over from the Romanian Television various programmes which promote the national culture and identity”, Rev Constantin Stoica also said.

According to Andrei Victor Dochia, television producer, the protocol is addressed, first of all, to the audience: “It is a new beginning, a protocol that will mean a lot, not so much for us, as public television and for the Romanian Patriarchate, as for the audience, because they are our addressees. We shall try to offer more interesting programmes. We shall try, through our reportages and through the “Universe of Faith” – a religious programme broadcast every Sunday morning of the Romanian Television 1 – to cover the activity of the Church as much as possible, in order to help the viewers and faithful”.
