Promotions in the Chapel of the Patriarchal Residence

Romanian Orthodox Church

On Friday, 5 April 2013, 26 priests of the Archdiocese of Bucharest were promoted to a higher rank. 10 hieromonks were promoted protosingelos, 14 priests became iconomos stavroforos and 2 priests were raised to the iconom rank. His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel celebrated the religious service related in the chapel of “Saint Great Martyr George” of the patriarchal residence.

His Beatitude told them that this promotion represented a confirmation of their diligence and endeavours, as well as a hope to continue the work begun.

“Diligent priests aware of their mission are badly needed because they work for the spiritual improvement both of their own faithful and of their parish, restoring and repairing old churches, building, painting and bedecking new churches. Most of all they help developing their missionary work, preaching the Gospel of Christ and celebrating the Holy Sacraments for helping the young and old, sick and poor, in time of spiritual and material crisis”, His Beatitude said according to Trinitas Radio station.

His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel urged the priests to support the faithful, relieve their sufferance and bring hope where it is sadness.

“We must bring hope where it is sadness and more hope where it was diminished. We must show that the Gospel of the merciful love of Christ is always light for life. The first philanthropic work of the Church is feeding the faithful both with the holy words of the Holy Gospel and with all the prayers of the Church. Secondly, the philanthropic work is seen in the care taken of the poor, old people, children, and helpless”, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel also said.
