Prime-Minister of Ukraine Yuliya Tymoshenko Greeted Metropolitan Vladimir on His Name Day and Met with Patriarch Kirill
Late in the evening Yuliya Tymoshenko arrived to the residence of His Beatitude together with Yuriy Reshetnikov, chair of the State Commission on Religious Affairs.
Yuliya Tymoshenko called His Beatitude a true pastor and spiritual father of the Ukrainian people and wished him many years.
The Prime-Minister of Ukraine discussed with the Primate of the UOC the status of religious education in Ukraine, teaching of Christian Ethics, the issues of restitution of the church property and other actual issues.
Yuliya Tymoshenko also talked to Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia that evening. The Prime-Minister of Ukraine and the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church discussed the issues of the church-state relations, of spiritual revival and return of our nations to Christian values, of the problems of Orthodoxy in Ukraine.
“I came in order to pray with people, because I believe in extraordinary power of prayer”, noted Patriarch Kirill at the beginning of the meeting. On her part Yuliya Tymoshenko underscored that “on such a difficult moment, when all the countries, not only Ukraine, experience hard times, the people need strength of will and spirit, the people need hope”.
