Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Urges the Ethiopian Church to Take up a Greater Role in Nation Building

Addis Ababa – Ethiopia: Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed addressed the regular and biannual conference of the Holy Synod of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church.
Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed urged the Holy Synod members to transform the Church into a strong, corruption-free, and transparent religious institution.
He also urged the synod to propagate peace, love, and reconciliation in partnership with local administrative bodies as well as to build schools, hospitals and establish foundations in partnership with other religious institutions.
He called the followers of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church to show their commitment for unity by cleaning mosques and areas around them in the month of Ramadan.
