Primate of the Russian Church officiates at the consecration of archimandrite German (Kamalov) as Bishop of Yeisk

On 1 May 2011, St. Thomas Sunday, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia celebrated Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of the Assumption in the Laura of the Holy Trinity and St. Sergius.
His Holiness officiated at the consecration of archimandrite German (Kamalov) as bishop of Yeisk, a vicar of the Yekaterinodar and Kuban diocese. Concelebration with His Holiness were Metropolitan Juvenaly of Krutitsy and Kolomna; Metropolitan Varsonofiy of Saransk and Mordovia, chancellor of the Moscow Patriarchate; Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR); Metropolitan Isidor of Yekaterinodar and Kuban; Archbishop Arseniy of Istra; Archbishop Yevgeniy of Vereya, chairman of the Education Committee and rector of the Moscow Theological schools; Archbishop Feognost, chairman of the Synodal Commission for Monasteries and abbot of the Laura of the Holy Trinity and St. Sergius; Archbishop Mark of Yegorievsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Administration for Institutions Abroad; Archbishop Antoniy of Borispol, rector of the Kiev Theological schools; Bishop Sergiy of Solnechnogorsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Administrative Secretariat; Bishop Zinoviy of Elista and Kalmykia; archpriest Vladimir Divakov, Patriarch’s secretary for Moscow; archpriest Nikolai Balashov, DECR deputy chairman; hegumen Savva (Tutunov), deputy chancellor of the Moscow Patriarchate; ordained monks of the Laura, and Moscow clergymen.
Praying at the divine service were M.Timofeyev, head of the Yeisk Municipal Formation; S. Shishkarev, chairman of the State Duma Committee for Transport and a deputy from the Krasnodar Region; M. Chepel, president of the St. Nicholas Charity Foundation; and a delegation of the clergy and laity from the Yekaterinodar diocese. Attending the service were head of the Sergiev Posad district of the Moscow Region V. Korotkov and chairman of the City Council Ye. Dushko.
The choir of the brethren of the Laura conducted by archimandrite Gleb (Kozhevnikov) and the third choir of the Theological Academy conducted by hieromonk Nestor (Volkov) sang at the Liturgy.
At the lesser entrance His Holiness presented liturgical awards to several inhabitants and clergyman of the Laura and of the Sretensky stavropegic monastery in Moscow.
By tradition, the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church presented a bishop’s staff to the newly consecrated and delivered an exhortation after the Liturgy. Bishop German gave his first archpastoral blessing to the worshippers.
His Holiness Patriarch Kirill addressed his primatial homily to all those present.
