President of Ukraine prayed at Holy Mount Athos
On June 6 in the course of his visit to Greece, President of Ukraine Victor Yanukovych made a pilgrimage trip to the Holy Mount Athos.
President prayed at the All-night vigil service and Liturgy in St. Panteleimon’s Monastery, venerated the relics of the Holy Hierarch and Healer Panteleimon, met with hegumen and spiritual father of the monastery.
Also President of Ukraine called to Karyes -administrative center of the monastic republic, where the prayer service was performed at the icon of the Mother of God “It is truly meet”.
The pilgrims attended the Iveron Monastery, where they bowed unto the patroness of the Holy Mount – the Iveron Icon of the Mother of God, and also called to the recently opened monastery museum. At the Vatopedi Monastery the pilgrims from Ukraine bowed unto the belt of the Mother of God and the wonderworking icon of the Mother of God “Pantanassa”.
During his pilgrimage to the Holy Mount Athos President of Ukraine was accompanied by Rector of the Kyiv Theological Schools Archbishop Anthony of Boryspil.
