Pontifical Prayer Offered on Birthday of His Holiness Karkein II

Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin – Augsut 2016

On 21 August, in the Mother Cathedral of Holy Etchmiadzin a special Pontifical Prayer Service was offered on the occasion of the 65th birthday of His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; asking for good health, longevity and perseverance of the Pontiff of All Armenians.

In the morning, Divine Liturgy was celebrated. The celebrant was Very Rev. Fr. Senior Archimandrite Shahe Ananyan, Director of the Ecumenical Relations Department of the Mother See. At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, under the presidency His Grace Bishop Hovnan Hakobyan, Grand Sacristan of the Mother See, a Pontifical Prayer Service was offered on the Holy Alter of the Mother Cathedral.

On the occasion of this joyful day, before the prayer was offered, His Grace Bishop Mushegh Babayan, Director of the Operations Department of the Mother See, delivered his message to the Armenian faithful and pilgrims in attendance.

Bishop Mushegh urged those present to pray along with the clergymen to Almighty God, asking for many productive and successful years for His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, the 132nd Pontiff of the Armenian Church as successor to the 1st Pontiff of All Armenians, St. Gregory the Illuminator.
