Polish Orthodox Church Observes the 77th Anniversary of the Outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising

Warsaw-Poland: The Polish Orthodox Church observed the 77th anniversary of the outbreak of the Warsaw Uprising on the 1st of August 2021. Metropolitan of Sawa served Liturgy at the monument commemorating the fallen.
On the first days of the uprising, students and lecturers of the Orthodox Theology Study at the University of Warsaw were killed. A total of 17 people were killed. In the Warsaw district of Wola, children and the staff of an Orthodox orphanage. Hundred people were murdered.
The Warsaw Uprising was the largest military uprising in Europe occupied by the Third Reich. The struggle began on August 1, 1944, and lasted 63 days. The uprising resulted in the deaths of nearly 200,000.
