Patronal Feast of the Cathedral Church in Trebinje – Herzegovina

The patronal feast of the church and the city, the Transfiguration of the Lord, was solemnly celebrated in Trebinje on the Saturday of 19 August 2017.

On the Eve of the feast-day of the Holy Transfiguration of the Lord, which is the patronal feast of the city and the church, in Trebinje, the Vesper service was performed. His Beatitude kyr Jovan, Archbishop of Ohrid and Metropolitan of Skopje, officiated the service with the concelebration of the clergy and deacons.

On the feast-day itself, the morning service, the Divine Liturgy, commenced at 8 a.m. His Beatitude kyr Jovan Archbishop of Ohrid and Metropolitan of Skopje celebrated the Holy Liturgy with the concelebration of His Grace retired Bishop Atanasije of Zahumlje, Herzegovina and the Littoral; His Grace Bishop Grigorije of Zahumlje, Herzegovina and the Littoral, hieromonks, priests and deacons of the Diocese and from other dioceses of the SOC.

Following the Holy Liturgy the grapes and slava loaf were blessed in front of the church and at the City Council, after which the celebration continued at the Diocesan residence.

It was in the evening that at the church-courtyard, a monument to Serbian Patriarch Pavle was consecrated; it is a gift of academic sculptor Sara Nikolic from Belgrade. After the Vesper service, the solemn procession through city streets was implemented; it was headed by  His Beatitude kyr Jovan Archbishop of Ohrid and Metropolitan of Skopje; His Grace Bishop Joanikije of Budimlje-Niksic, His Grace retired Bishop Atanasije of Zahumlje, Herzegovina and the Littoral; His Grace Bishop Grigorije of Zahumlje, Herzegovina and the Littoral, and with a participation of monks, priests and deacons of the Diocese of Zahumlje, Herzegovina and the Littoral and from other dioceses of the SOC.
